How shall we escape?
My friend, when there is imminent danger ahead, should not one prepare for it rather than neglect the necessary preparations so that life might be saved? Why then are many of us who have heard the message of the gospel and have come to the knowledge of salvation, failing to desire with our whole hearts the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ? Why should an heir of God’s salvation and a partaker of the Son of God’s righteousness, our Lord Jesus Christ, make light of His offerings, of His sacrifice, of His Kingdom, of His reign and of His gift of everlasting life? WHY?
Brother, sister, do you believe? Do you believe the Lord is Lord, sent by the will of the Father to purge all sin and defeat the power of death from the devil, Satan? Do you believe that Jesus has loved you with an everlasting love? Do you believe you are of His flock, His kingdom, His bride? Friend, do you actually believe the Living Word of God is God, Christ Jesus our Rock?
I once heard a friend say, “much of our time is spent on getting believers to believe the word.” Should this be true, how sorrowful. How painful that the one who was certain of their witness is not certain at all. So long as we are in this world we will have to learn, grow and mature in the things of Jesus Christ, yet learning and understanding is based on progression, believing is not.
Though I may not fully understand all things now, though many aspects be dim to me now, I believe, for what is certain is the Word of my Father, Jesus Christ is true and is holy. His word, the holy scriptures, are separate from all, and stands alone. To God be the glory for He is wise and kind, patient and just.
But friend, should you believe on the name of Jesus and yet separate your life from Him and, keep your ways apart from His ways, you fool yourself. Howbeit the same God you know to be your maker isn’t able to tell of your hearts desires and intents of your mind? Do you love Him? Do you know Him, or simply okay with knowing about Him?
“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?“
